Forbes World's Bid Unsuccessful
Vicki Cain on behalf of the Sydney Hang Gliding Club prepared a bid to host the World Championships in Forbes in 2011. The bid process involved attending the annual CIVL meeting and making a presentation to the delegates and CIVL board. The bid needs to be made 2 years in advance.

It is with sad news that I have to tell you that Steve Elliott passed away at 12:32 pm the 5th January, 2009. Steve had an accident launching on the 3rd January on the first day of the Forbes competition.
Flying in Quebec

Finally! We got a summer! After the poor flying conditions we've experienced this summer, we finally got two nice week ends of flying in a row in Quebec, situated in the eastern part of Canada.
Italian Championships 2008

The Italian Championships were held at Bergamo near Milan from 30th April to the 4th May. The first and 2nd tasks were cancelled because of rain but 3 good tasks followed. Elio Cataldi won the 3rd and 4th tasks with Filippo Oppicci winning the last task.
Elio Cataldi is the new Italian Champion for 2008!
